Program Development

Elissa Brown offers valuable and diverse experience in program development and implementation. Program development services may be provided in conjunction with grant writing, or can be part of general development and planning efforts.

The challenge of program development is to create “smart” programs. These are programs that
  • Reach outside the box to create innovative approaches and integrate complementary resources
  • Provide services and activities that are comprehensive and well-chosen to achieve program goals
  • Create collaborative, “win-win” relationships with other organizations and agencies
  • Are based on solid research, intelligent analysis and thoughtful planning

Program Development Experience:
  • Recovery and Rebuilding Center for 1991 Oakland Hills Firestorm
  • Comprehensive Community Building Team program through the Federal Empowerment Zone initiative
  • Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization program for City of Oakland’s Economic Development and Employment Department
  • Nonprofit Capacity Building Network including 170 organizations and institutions which provided collaboration building, resource development and technical assistance
  • Madera County Paleontology Museum, a public facility showcasing fossils from the Fairmead Landfill, the largest middle-Pleistocene fossil site in North America
  • North Fork Business Incubator program, an innovative approach to local redevelopment of abandoned rural industrial sites
